It’s still The Sunshine State and our snowmen are made of sand!

OK, so it’s a little cold today in Central Florida with the highs in the upper 40’s but we’ll survive.  It’s a nice change sometimes – it’s good to give the air conditioner a break and it puts a lot of us in the Christmas Spirit.  After all, the only 4 seasons we have in Florida is a resort.

The cold front is expected to last another few days but then we’ll be back up in the 70’s by the weekend. Moving here from Iowa over 20 years ago I’ve grown accustomed to the balmy Christmas season and seeing Palm Trees decorated with Christmas lights.  The best part about living in Florida  is we can do about anything we want without putting on layers upon layers of clothing before going outside in the winter and the kids aren’t cooped up during the school break. Oh ya, even if our snowmen are made of sand.

Windermere Boat Parade

Saturday, December 18 is the date for the 6th annual Windermere Boat Parade. Every December Windermere residences and surrounding areas look forward to the annual boat parade and sunset social.  The social will begin at 5 pm on the north side of Bird Island and the boat parade will begin at 6 pm.  The route will continue around Lake Butler and loop back to Bird Island.
